Today, you can purchase almost anything before you
have the money to pay for it. We take out
mortgages for our homes, loans for our cars,
furniture, electronics, computers, education,
vacations, cosmetic surgery...just about anything.
We can even pay our taxes with a credit card.
There are plans that businesses have devised to
assist us, for a fee, to purchase things that we do
not have enough money for. Some things are
necessities like a home, car, or education. We
engage in contracts with the purveyors of goods and
services because we feel that we will be able to
make the payments.
Some things, like having a big screen TV to watch
the superbowl on or new furniture to impress the
relatives at a holiday party may not be necessities,
but we feel they enhance our quality of life. There
used to be a phrase used in advertising, "Buy Now,
Pay Later." Whether it be a financial transaction, a
social interaction or a sensory pleasure we do alot of
things without considering the long-term
consequences.
Whether are not you use credit wisely is not
the point. What we are considering is your
happiness. We are impatient--we want it now! We
look for short cuts to happiness, peace, prosperity,
health and even God. We mortgage our health just as
we do our homes. We put harmful foods and drugs
into our
bodies, often knowingly, and say I will diet later, or
exercise later. When we are sick, or poor, or all
alone we may regret our decisions for instant
gratification. The question is, "Is it ever too late?"
We want happiness now. We want to feel good. We
want nice things. We want pleasure. We sometimes
want to be left alone, and then, we are surprised
when we finally are. The teachings of Jesus provide
us with a proven pathway to experiencing our good
all the time...right here and right now. Jesus' plan is
not
necessarilly an easy payment plan. When we
purchase on time we understand we will have to
pay...on a scheduled basis, to complete the
transaction. If we want complete good in the form of
perfect health, permanent and complete prosperity,
lasting and loving relationships, and perhaps most
importantly, inner peace do we have any plan? Is the
price of a daily time of prayer and meditation too
high for the Kingdom of God?
This Sunday, lets talk! ...........Regardless of your
financial
situation, the condition of your health, or
relationships, there is a plan pay off your existing
debts without incurring more. There is a way to heal
your body and mind without health insurance or
major surgery. There is a way to free your mind from
hate and fear and to bring harmony to every aspect
of your life.
